Two Clarks, One Vision: Rethinking How We Learn at Work
At Thinkaway Learning, we often say we’re a little different from your typical e-Learning provider — and not just because we’re a father-daughter team.
Our business was born from two intersecting career journeys: one rooted in the genesis of digital learning, the other grounded in the world of brand strategy and communications. Those two paths led us to something new — a business that brings a fresh, fun, campaign-led approach to online training, with a sharp eye on what AI means for the future of learning at work.
Thinkaway Learning CEO
Mickey Clark
Where It All Started: Mickey’s Path Through Learning
CEO Mickey Clark has spent over three decades immersed in the world of workplace learning and development. With a career that’s spanned both the public and private sectors, Mickey has led award-winning teams, shaped learning strategies for hundreds of businesses and thousands of employees, and been at the forefront of the evolution of the industry.
More recently, Mickey has been especially focused on the opportunities that emerging technologies, particularly AI, offer for reshaping workplace learning. Beyond personalising training content, he sees huge potential for AI to deliver scalable, high-quality coaching experiences to individual employees — the kind of tailored support that’s traditionally only been available to senior leaders.
He brings deep instructional design expertise and a strong belief in performance-driven learning: training that’s not just engaging, but genuinely useful — the kind that helps people grow and drives real business results.
Thinkaway Learning General Manager
Adrian Clark
Adrian’s Journey: Storytelling Meets Strategy
General Manager Adrian Clark comes from a background in marketing and communications, with a 20 year career spent helping businesses grow their brands, tell their stories, and connect with their audiences in meaningful ways. She’s worked across startups, established businesses and large corporates, and has a knack for getting the right message to the right people at the right time.
That understanding of audience needs, behavious and the learner journey is at the heart of the Thinkaway difference. Adrian brings the mindset of a marketer into the learning space: that good content isn’t just consumed, it inspires and sparks action.
Why We Started Thinkaway Learning
Thinkaway started with a conversation — the kind you have when work, values, and curiosity overlap. Over coffee (as all good ideas begin!), we found ourselves talking about our work Mickey, frustrated by the slow pace and ‘sameness’ of so much corporate learning; Adrian, excited by how digital campaigns could rapidly shift perceptions and behaviours. And we asked: what if learning could work more like a great marketing campaign?
From there, the idea for Thinkaway Learning took shape. A boutique learning company that brings together the best of instructional design, digital interactivity and a great communication strategy — to build e-Learning that actually sticks.
Family-Run, People-First
We’re proud to be a family-run business. We believe businesses run by family members tend to have better long-term vision and commitment as well as stronger customer relationships. We think that’s because family-run teams are built on trust, long-term thinking, and a deep personal commitment to doing great work. That’s certainly true for us!
Working together gives us a unique kind of momentum: Mickey’s deep L&D experience and Adrian’s communications nous mean we cover all the angles, from strategy and storyboarding to roll-out and review. And our shared values — curiosity, rigour, humanity and a sense of humour — shape everything we do.
What Makes Us Different
At Thinkaway, we don’t just make courses. We help our clients communicate change. We use a campaign mindset to ensure learning is memorable, relevant and aligned to business goals. Whether it’s onboarding, compliance, behavioural change or skills development, our work is underpinned by:
A commitment to learner-centric design
Intelligent use of interactivity
A learning campaign perspective that utilises micro-learning
Data and feedback loops (including real-time learner polling)
A belief in AI’s role in the future of workplace learning — not as a replacement, but as an enabler
We know that for learning to work, it HAS to cut through. And in today’s noisy, fast-moving work environment, that takes more than good content — it takes clear strategy, thoughtful design, and the ability to adapt.
That’s what we’re building at Thinkaway Learning. And we’re only just getting started!
